Casting Down All Imaginations

Renew Your Mind In the Name Of Jesus

The first weapon the apostle Paul mentions in 2 Corinthians 10: 4-5 is about the spiritual warfare by casting down imaginations. “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds: Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.” The strongholds are built upon falsehood; it is through the truth that you tear down such faulty thinking patterns.

Strongholds are built when we accept and receive error and begin to meditate them. It forms in our minds what is known as an imagination. The word imagination mean in the Merriam –Webster dictionary the act or power of forming a mental image of something not present to the senses or never before wholly perceived in reality.

It is also a false concept that we believe to be true, but in reality is not.

The Bible speaks about these imaginations clearly, and shows us how they can be torn down: “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (Romans 12:2).

We need to renew our minds by listening to God’s word and then applying it in our daily lives. We must renew our mind by changing the way we think. By learning to think like God thinks instead of thinking like the world thinks. We have to present ourselves to God as a living sacrifice.

The Bible tells us that God wants to sanctify us and transform us into the express image of His Son Jesus Christ. “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things”(Philippians 4:8).

If we are transformed by the renewing of our minds, we will live in God’s perfect plan that will bring us hope and a good future.

We must be alert of the mind game of the enemy, negative thoughts is his specialty. We must recognize that satanic and demonic powers can bring impressions to our minds. Do not listen to the lies of the enemy; do not listen to his voice.

The voices of demonic spirits are often loud, and insistent.  He is trying to get us to act without thinking and forcing us to rush. The voice of the Lord Jesus brings us peace, balance and directions by teaching us how to think and walk in Him. His voice is quiet but persistent; the voice of God gives us hope and peace.

When our spirit is aligning with the voice of God; we are free of imaginations in our mind. Jesus tells us in John 8:31-32 how we are stay victorious over the lies of Satan: “Continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Is very important to know that God is the center of our lives; and we are the temple of the Holy Spirit, He guards us and fight for us. “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.

Jesus is in control of every step that we do. The enemy does not have any place neither in our life or our minds. Do not allow the enemy to control your mind with negative thoughts, as soon as he enter, you must rebuke him by casting down every imagination with the word of God in the name of Jesus.

When Jesus sent out His disciples, they went out and preached that people should repent. They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them”(Mark 6:12-13). We must  repent and ask God for forgiveness. If you are born again, God has already made you into a new creation.

Your old life has passed away. You have been given a new spirit, a new heart; spiritually you have been renewed and given a new essence to your being. Everything has been made new. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

 As believers, you are transformed by the power of the blood of Jesus. How are we transformed by the renewing of our mind? The choices we make are based upon how we think.

We must put away all of the bad and negative thinking and focus in the process of transformation every day. As our minds are renewed, we may discern what is good, acceptable and perfect, and the will of God.

It is necessary that our minds are filling with the word of God; when you do this you are tearing down a stronghold of defeat that once oppressed you. Since our thoughts are exposed to the power of darkness, we must learn how to guard them and do not give the enemy ground to enter in our minds.

 We must ask the Lord to cleanse us from every negative thought that comes from our minds every day. Ephesians 5:26-27, say to us “That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.”

At some point in life, negative thoughts may cross our mind especially any feeling of fear and anxiety, but it is up to us to deal with fear.  Are we going to allow fear to control us or move on in Christ?  Do not let fear control your mind; as believers you have the weapons in your hand to defeat the fear with the word of God in the name of Jesus. Declare war on the father of lies.

 Cast down those wrong images with the word of God, and let’s raise up the vision God has for us. Casting down every imagination and renew your mind in the name of Jesus.
